ive got a 57-60 and wanted to know what exactly the differences are in the custom cab and the standard cab. at first i thought it was just a badging/ trim pack but it seems that the windshield may be one difference also considering LMC sells 2 different seal kits. i was gonna be ordering a new front glass and seal here shortly but im not even sure if ive got a custom cab or not.
Romak,
I believe the seat was different too. My 60 is a custom cab and the seat has an insert design. I think the pic of my old and new covers are in my album.
I have a 58 Custom Cab, extras included
Padded sun visors
Paded dash
Small back window
Front window has chrome trim imbedded in the rubber, replacement rubber comes with groove for chrome trim
Large hardboard door panels
My stock seat was replaced with a power seat from ????
ok so the windshield was the same then, but the custom just had the chrome trim around it? that would make since.
I did see the pics of your seat that thing is Bad A. if i had gone with a bench thats about what i woulda done. but i love the seats i got in mine
thats a rough pic of the test fit, they came out of a Scion XB that was custom upholsterd and wrecked.
I have been wondering the same thing. my 57 says custom cab on the door. the grille is chromed and it has chrome trim on the windshield. the visors were AWOL when i bought it but the dash is a 1 tone color schem with no padding. i am thinking about painting the grille and removeing the chrome trim on the windshiled when i freshen mine up in a couple years since it is just a work truck. mine still has the original seat.

The padded dash, possibly the rarest of all options for 57-60's(I have one),were not part of the Custom Cab , but rather were part of a safety package option. In fact, according to Col. Flashman, there were two safety packages,A&B,that included the padded dash, padded sun visors, and seat-belts.Not sure what came in Package A/Package B.

Also it comes with the round radio with 2 ***** below it(as shown in post above^^).
Radios were just another option, not part of the Custom Cab package.
For at least 59/60, Custom Cabs included upgraded cushioning in the seats. When my stock seat was re-covered,the owner of the upholstery shop urged me to just barely shave off the top dead layer of that foam and add a small amount of new foam,as he said he'd have difficulty finding foam of that quality.
The custom cabs also had a different horn on the steering wheel. It had a chrome ring attached to the center horn that went inside the bottom of the steering wheel. Several pics in Col Flashman's gallery
