I just installed my Gryphon in my truck a few days ago. I have custom tunes to accommodate for my Volant CAI and larger tires and I guess the cat-back exhaust too. I haven't really been able to test it enough to say if I'm getting better mileage. I was screwing around and I noticed that I can now spin my tires and burnout from a dead stop and was never able to do that before. With that in mind, I know I have some more power.
I'll be going on a 4.5 hour trip on Wednesday which will be mostly highway so I can let you guys know what kind of mileage I get. Towing report will have to wait until late Spring/Summer until I tow my boat again.
Anyway, to answer the OP question, your best bet is to go with custom tunes as well as a CAI if you want to go that route.
coskid, when are you going to try a programmer out?
This is a good question. I guess once I get my truck closer to how I want it and am going to leave it. I have decided that I am going to get a 4" lift kit (most likely summer 2012) and the next time I do tires they will be 35" Nittos (Trail or Terra again not sure yet). I may end up changing gears too because I will probably get a larger trailer around the sametime as everything else and the larger gears will be helpful.
Just don't see enough benefit into doing one now as I still have some pretty big changes to come.
