Band Replacement
I have a C6 on the bench for a shift shaft change (Van into a pickup). I noticed that it appears to be easy to slip in a new band (the big one in front) and then just adjust it according to specs. I see these on ebay for about 25 bucks and since I am in there any way I am considering this. So the question; is this as easy as it looks? I have not overhauled a C6 (yet) but I am adept at most things mechanical and this looks simple enough. Am I about to screwup? Thanks!

You wont be able to slip in a normal band in that way, but they do make a "snap band" that will go in like that. You will have to cut the old band to get it out. I dont know if they still make the snap band, a quick search didn't give me any good results, but someone may have one out there. The reason most people use the snap band is because you dont have to remove the trans to use it, but since your is already out you can just pull the pump and get it changed that way, of coarse now that you have the pump out why not just rebuild it.

Thanks JK080, I suspected the same. A rebuild is not a pressing issue, the Van it came out of was running and driving just fine. A rebuild is off in the future after paint, electrical, interior and so on. Thanks again!
