C6 snap band? Anybody ever use.

My 400 build is well underway, getting ready to replace the big 545 stroker for a more contemporary solution to my old 78 f250, and I was planning on a new torque converter as well. The 2000 stall will be changed for a stock 1600-1800 stall, the c6 has about 35000 miles from an entire rebuild (done in house at my garage) and works well, however 2nd gear is soft under power with that big motor, was fine before with small motor, but I am afraid the damage was done. I am seeing a little more slippage from the 1-2 shift and the band was run in to the tighter setting of 1 turn. Servo is new but not a good r code, but should be fine for future use. Moral, lesson learned. However, while in there last time, I installed the low gear kit, seems like a worthy mod. I recommend it. Deeper gearing without sacrificing hiway performance.
On to the question. If I dropthe valve body and see no other damage, like drum, a snap band is still available for c6, anybody ever use? The local trans guys say they are perfectly fine, especially if the rest is good. I read here and there only a band aid, anyone know why? My c6 is heavily modified, thinner reaction plates, deeper drums for more clutches, hardened input shaft, 4 pin planetaries low gear kit, governor work, drilled valve body, and she works nice, but when in the throttle, and accelerating the 1-2 shift will slip, so I am afraid the band had seen its useful life. For the effort and a $50 bill, I see it as being well worth a try, the only thing I figure is if it fails and ruins a drum, I will stop having fun at that point. Thanks and sorry for the long post.
