Take out the screw in the arm rest and also up in the corner by the vent window, then just pull the door panel from the door frame, it is held in by push clips. When you get it loose all the way around, then lift the door handle with one hand and with the other hand lift the bottom of the door panel away from the door, so it is tilting towards the door at the top, and push up, this will release it from the window channel. Then slide it forward over the door handle, which you are holding in your other hand, and then lay it down (with the bottom against the door) so you can remove the screws that hold the switches in their bezel.
Thanks, jas88! That's just what I was looking for.
BTW, Since I only use the truck for camping and only have 54,000 miles on the '88 F250, 7.5 litre gas engine, when do you think I ought to be thinking about the alternator and fuel pump being replaced? (the water pump went out at about 40,000). I heading out to Colorado later this spring.
There's no set time they will fail, if it was mine I'd just go. If you value not being stranded over all, which I could understand, you could just go ahead and replace them, but if you follow that reasoning, you probably should get a whole new truck.
You can carry a used alternator behind the seat if you want, they are pretty easy to swap by the roadside. Your fuel pump, yours is on the frame rail and those don't fail very often, I would not worry about it.
Thanks again jas88! I took the door panel off, removed the door lock switch, took it apart and cleaned it all off with alcohol and the air blow gun, put it all back together and it works perfect. Three cheers for the forum!
