P0683 Code Glow Plugs or GPCM?

When I start her in the morning, she is rough. Sounds like she's missing on 3 or 4 cylinders. Looked on my reader and got the DTC 0683 then cleared, shut off and restarted. DTC P0683 and U0360. Two questions since every cylinder's glow plug has a different code for every individual cylinder, would this just be my GPCM or all glow plugs? Second question, WTH is a U0360 DTC? Can't find that anywhere, I have the 6.0 Bible, the Haynes guide, and been Googleing all day, I can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance, you guys always save me money and headaches! This site is awesome!

U codes are usually communication codes but I don't find that U0360 listed anywhere in the Ford master list. Are you sure it's not a U0306? That P0683 is for the GPCM itself. I'd check the connectors and wiring at the GPCM before replacing anything.

Just went back out to double check the code. U0360 is what is showing. I'm checking it with my BD Outlook Monitor.

No such animal, not even in google. I agree that you have a GPCM problem of somekind which is probably what is causing your bad starts. I don't know how to tell you to diagnose that except to check the wiring.

Does BD mean bullydog?

That may be a bullydog thing and maybe you should call them. Their electronics/flashes are known to cause issues with Ford PCM's but I don't think that's necessarily your case with the GPCM. Maybe one of out tech's can has more information on this DTC, but I can't find it for any vehicle anywhere. It simply doesn't exist.

Ok so I yesterday after about 2 days of rain, I go to start my truck to leave work and I noticed my check engine light was on. I plugged in my reader and got the same P0683 code (GPCM). I got that m,uch figured out but here is my real question. If the system is saying there is something wrong with the module, why am I getting better starts now then before the check light came on? I have no problems with moring starts or after the truck has sat for a full day. It starts with less than a second of cranking and the WTS light goes off pretty fast. Any ideas before I drop $150 on a new module.

It's also a circuit code, not just for the GPCM. It could be bad wiring, oil in the connector, etc.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. I just pulled the connectors off the GPCM, reconnected then, cleared the code and started her to let her warm up. So far no check engine light. I'm thinking of just buying a new module just to have when it does go. And idea how often they get replaced?

I’ve read to just replace the GPCMs every 60k miles regardless of faults

Still on original GPCM at 16 years and 237k miles. Do NOT just replace it for no reason.
