ya, this diesel thing is gettin outta hand, 4.19 here already.
Rolltide: heres a couple pix of my '64 ranchero that i built that runs on propane. price of propane right now is 2.75, but it drops to $2.00/gal in the summer since less people are using it to heat there house. I never really wanted to be see in a civic or something like that, which is why i chose to do this to a classic instead..
We hit 3.59 a gallon 2 days ago. I think I am only mixing about 10 percent regular diesel when I get fuel tomorrow. 90 % bio. Screw these gas companies. It's been running great so far on a B50 mix. No leaks or plugged filters so far. Smells like burger king though. I'd be happier with a Ryans steak house smell but I can live with it.
$3.80 here. Can't even afford to drive my truck anymore, has been parked for weeks... Going to have to start looking into algae to diesel, they have one right here in Ma... $30-$50 a barrel? Sign me up!
I have been thinking about a way to make my own too. Different ways from planting 10 acres of soybeans to algae. I'm looking at cost effectiveness. I have what I need to plant soy but not harvest it. That's where it gets expensive. I don't have the storage for it either. Algae on the other hand. All I'd have to do is start raking my pond once a week. It's growing algae now even!!! More research is warranted at these prices.
The news irritated me this morning. They were saying gas is t9 dollars a gallon in England so what we are paying is not bad.
Does anyone really care about England though. I for one don't care at all what they pay.
If i read right there a lot of small diesel powered vehicles in a lot other countries that we
are not getting here, like when my son went mexico a few years ago he saw a FORD sporttrack that had a diesel that got about 45mpg,and we can not get the same one here.
It seems the EPA think's it is better to get 15mpg then 45mpg whats wrong with this picture.
Diesel went to 3.79 today, just gonna keep going up. I found a website where a farmer is growing his own fuel. He grows sunflowers and processes them thru a press, then blends with unleaded until the viscosity is the same as diesel, depending on the outside temp of course. He has been burning this in his $250,000 combine with no trouble, I think he has burned something like 15,000 gallons so far. He says the key is the viscosity. I figure if he can burn it in his, it will work in mine. His engine probably cost more than my pu. The problem is, who has all of the equipment and land to grow and harvest. I am going to try and get a deal going with some local farmers. Or else I am going to start burning waste veg oil or auto trann fluid. Dont want to, but there are plenty of people burning both in their psd's.
