That was good thinking. I will say, though, that the other bed does look shorter...weird. Are the wheel well openings the same distance on both beds?

Bingo, looks like an 80-86 inner bed floor

Not neccessarily. The wheel opening on a reg bed will be the same as a Camper Special but the hump for wheel in the bed will be much differerent then a regular box.
I ordered the inner curved metal brace/liner for the wheel opening from LMC and DC and they were not even close to being correct. Noone had these parts at the time ...nor was able to locate any. Made my own.
Just a possibilty.

I went back and looked at the first 2 pics and I am almost positive this is the reason. The first bed is from a Camper Special F250.
If you want, give the length and width of the humps in the bed and I can verify for you.

After looking over the pics again and getting a chance to look at my own bed floor, the mounted bed is a 1973 and the loose bed is a 1974+.
The 80-86 bed floors are the same as 74-79. This is visual proof Ford carried over the Bumpside bed floor into 1973.
Both beds are the same style and length and have nothing to do with Camper Specials or the like.

From what I remember I don't think the 67-72 bed floor/wheel wheels looked anything like the 1973. My uncle and dad have a few I could look at but I'm pretty positive on this without even looking.

Maybe I retract my statement, are all Bumpsides like this?

I tired linking the pic, but it wouldn't work...
That would make 1973 a true oddball then.

I agree, making a mountain out of a mole hill really.
I would be more concerned if the bed mounting holes line up, not wheel arches.
