well if you look at the chart, i says the only 30 spline hub that doesnt need the spindle nut kit is the Super Duty F-250/350; Excursion 99-04. but if you dont need it, thats an extra 20$ in your pocket.
Thanks man, i found a guy on craigslist who had em for 115$ so i ran over and snatched them up!!
But so i got the whole thing taken apart. and the whole Hub body doesnt want to go in because it hits that dang snap ring and the things behind it..
I do have the 5 bolt outers.. but maybe i do need the Hub Conversion nuts kit and such.. is there a way i can tell?? i took all the old locking hub out and slide the manual hub body in.. but it doesnt wanna go in all the way..
Am i just missing a really easy step??
I swear Hubs have never givem me this much grief.. but gosh they sure will be worth it when i got 4wd again
well what is it behind the snap ring? there should be 3 washers then the locking nuts. i am not sure what the internals look like inside the 5 bolt outers. i remember when i was puting mine in for the first time, i had the same problem. i called warn and they said that there was a piece that i had to discard to get the hub on...but i cant remember what it was because it was like 4 years ago i did them. but i also did need the spindle nut kit.
Thanks... AG.. too lone to write out yer name but i think thats it.. cause theres a spindle nut, and a wheel bearing nut on there. but there also seems to be a spacer right behing the snap ring... ima give WARN a call and see what they reckon from it. Thanks again AG
also, to get the locknuts off, you need a special socket, you can get it at autozone for 20$ but you might not have to do that deep if you dont need the spindle nut kit.
So i called WARN thems tharr said to take that snap ring off and theres a couple washers that come out. so you then slide then HUB body in the put the other snap ring on to retain the axle. then you bolt the outer part of the locking hub on and you are good to go!
ohh FYI the other snap ring goes on the outer part of the AXLE i'll get pictures up and stuff tomorrow when i do it so people can see it and get an idea for future reference.
yea now i remember, there is a small snap ring that is in the groove on the axle stub shaft, the the big snap ring that holds the locking hub to the actual hub. i had the cam assembly (auto hubs) not the locking nuts, witch is why i needed the spindle nut kit, and i belive it came with a new snap ring (hub to hub body)as well. just had to re-use the 3 washers and small snap ring on the axle shaft.
