Okay, so i been reading up on here. about the manual Hub Conversion.. and i got a 91 f-250 with the 7.3L diesel Turbo-ed
And my question to you all is is there a write up with step by step pictures? or do i just got the wrong hub?
I know i dont need the conversion kit because i have a 5 bolt outer for my automatic hub. and i took it apart and i just dont see how it goes together. this is odd for me, im use to internationals (Scouts) so i dont usually go into axles cause it usually works
So what am i doing wrong here? i got the hub kit from my napa. and i took the autos apart.. and i just dont see how it works cause nothing really fits together.
Thanks.
Byron.
That schematic kinda helped... but up reasearch i think! (uh oh) i got the 30 spline hubs.. which means the hubs cost more.... Grrrr...
Cause i bought hubs for a 19 spline rig...
But is there a defineate writeup for this conversion? like pictures and all?
when i converted my autos to mans. i went with the warn locking hubs. let me see if i can find the paperwork, if not i think you can email warn and get one. but i dont know if napa carries warns.
Really? i read that i wouldnt need to because i got the 5 bolt outer hubs.. but i also read that they didnt have the 5 bolts till like 93.. but mine is a 91. but anything is possible i think.
i could be wrong, i had the 3 bolt, and needed the kit. not sure how hub is secured to the spindle (actual hub, with rotors and bearings...not the locking hub) but the kit is just 2 spindle locking nuts (inner with pin and outer) and a keyed lock washer that goes between them. but if you do need the kit, nows a good time to clean, inspect, and repack the outer bearing and race.
Ya these are odd.. these dang ford automatic's.. i took apart the Lock-o-matic hubs on a 77 IH scout 2 and that was a breeze.. but these just stump me.. it took me forever to realize the hub wouldnt fit onto my axle cause the shafts where different.. i got the more expensive 30 spline set up. And i took apart every single piece of the automatic hub! is there anything i need to keep? or do i just need the housing? and the manual hub bolted onto that?
But im gonna go down to napa and order me a set of hubs again for 199.00$
Hopefully from there once i get the right ones i can figure it out.
But idk the directions cornfused me some. there anything i need to look out for?
