not that i could tell, because i went from the full box with a 5 speed to the modified box and an automatic trans. so there was no way to compare before and after of the air box.
but the truck is a completely different animal with the auto trans.
.
Id bet happier with the C6 because i smoke my buddys 94 stroke with the zf5. With the shift kit that is installed it blasts each gear, none of the delay.
No he swapped over to a C6 after the ZF5 blew so out of the two, id bet happier with the C6 properties vs the ZF5. Id prefer to get a E4OD eventually but i dont have any major problems with my C6, but then again i am in canada and the speeds are a lot slower. If i was on a 75mph US interstate, id be slow lane for sure hahaha. If I swapped over to 3.55 gears from the 4.10's i have, id see a lot of difference.
Yeah I got over 95mph in my truck without the turbo (don't know if I'll go any faster with the turbo). I don't know how fast I got up to cause the needle stopped moving at the bumper
the truck is slower with the C-6, but is much faster getting to top speed. with the 5 speed, it would bury the 85 mph speedo, with the C-6, top speed is around 78-80 mph.
it also is much better towing and plowing with, and can haul heavier loads.
i always wanted an auto trans, and all the other trucks had autos. the 88 had the 5 speed, because when the 86 blew the engine the 88 5 speed was the only diesel they had on the dealership lot i rolled into. i did not feel like trying to get a ride home from another state, so i took the 88 they had.
on a side note, i paid $9000 cash for the 86 F-250 4X4 with 302 and 4 speed trans. 18 months and 18,000 miles later, the engine melted 3 pistons on an interstate. i rolled off the roadway, and there was a ford dealer there. i coasted the truck to the service bay doors, and they took it in as i went into the sales area. the tech came out and said it was a warranty repair, so they offered me $11,000 on it as trade in on the 88 diesel.
Looks like that Tee relocates the oil pressure sending unit.
So the stock sending unit needs to come out and get plugged.
That hole might be either a 1/8" pipe thread or 1/4" pipe thread.
What fitting is on the end of the oil line?
Does it look like a 1/8" pipe thread fitting?
If so, it will be going in where one of the 5 plugs are in the oil gallery under the oil cooler.
If it is like a 1/2" pipe thread, then one of the plugs on the oil cooler rear header with square holes for a rachet drive would be where it is going.
Anyone have measurements of the banks up pipe assy? I am scrapping the idea of buying that assy as it will be nearly 500 for just the piping. WTF? Damn canada taxes and fees. So would 2" pipe be good or 2.25 or?? I know if it is too big it wont allow for the boost pressure so thoughts there? Thanks for the help guys....OH and what kind of pipe? any kind i am guessing is ok like alumanized mandrel bent?
the original pipes with the banks kit back in the late 80's early 90's were regular exhaust pipe. the new pipes are unminimized or stainless exhaust pipe. not sure on it up pipe size, but i think it is 2 1/4. the down pipe is 3 inch.
