Has any body had to replace pcm for there tranny? I put one in 8 months ago and it is acting just like it did so frustrated i could limp it to scrap yard and watch them crush it.
I had my trans. rebuilt in febuary replaced solonoid pack then. all the parts were bought from a well known place around here. later had problem with od light coming on very dim and no tach after checking all plugs 5 times replaced brain problem solved. today was pulling out of drive way noticed it was definately not starting in first dim od no tach. I have new tach sensor mlps, flips,on and on. i taped on brain today bang every thing worked later quit again thats what it did before cleaned plug for brain with dieelectric cleaner and greased with die electric grease. still comes and goes. That is what it did before. No i am not positive that tcm and solinoid pack match. just depending on trans parts guy and ford dealer on both of them. yes i can get a codes reader will get one in morning.
The most common inducation of a problem is bare wires where they enter the sensor.
The insulation shrinks back from the heat and oil, then water gets inside to the coils and starts corrosion.
you really, really do not want to be driving the truck while the OD light is flashing.that's really to get you home, driving nice and easy to fix it.
it could be much cheaper for you to have a shop repair whats wrong now, rather than keeping driving it all this time, and need to replace the trans latter.
it can shift really, really harsh etc.not good for the trans.
the E40D gets such a bad rep, because this is just what many people do.keep driving them when like this, and when the trans goes out, they blame it on the trans.
just be careful and try to fix this before you hurt your trans.i don't mean to give ya a hard time.i just don't wanna see ya loose a trans needlessly, like so many E40D owners have.
Yes i do have the same problem but it went away 8 months ago when i changed pcm. It act just as it did before. I havent checked the wiing today but when it did this before i peeled the protector away and checked every strand and nothing out of ordinary.
all fuses are good? brakes lights work?
i had my dome lite/door jam switch go bad,so i pulled the fuse to it....mistake.the trans shifted very late and hard! and then the OD light came on.i quickly turned around and parked the truck.i thought back at what was changed and remembered doing that the night before.
put that fuse back in,and pulled the bad door jam switch instead.
everything was perfect and off i went.
funny how some stupid things like that got tied into the operation of the trans.not very smart on fords part for keeping that stuff on devoted fuses apart from the required pcm signals.
since learning that,i made sure to keep a variety pack of fuses in the glove box.
i should snip the line to the dome light myself and install a fuse holder as i discover each of fords mistakes.
Took the boys rabbit hunting eary drove about 20 mile never acted up. however i did forget to tell that yesterday before it acted up i wired up my meyer snow plow lights. but they all hook up to head lights side marker and turnsignals dont see how that would cause problem. Does the trans realy run any of thaT STUFF?
