It's good to be able to get back up and moving again. I had to have a below the knee amputation of my left leg and don't know about even walking again let-alone driving a stick shift diesel truck that has a 3" lift on it. NOT REPEAT NOT looking for pity and know that this is not diesel related, but would like to ask for your thoughts and prayers in the upcomeing months. May not be online much for a while, but will try to check this thread. Just needed somewhere to write part of what i felt and you guys have helped me alot in the past, and with luck i will be able to return and help others in the future. Thanks for having a place to write this, and for all that have taken the time to read though all of this. Grant.
Hey that is what family is for. As they say It always gets darkest before dawn. You'll be back Almost as good as new. Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
^^^^^^^ What he says. And you will walk again, if you want to.
As for the truck the 3in lift might come in handy if you want to throw in a C6 auto when you are on the mend.
Good luck.
Grant, I am really sorry to hear about your misfortune! I think I may know how you feel too, as I have a partial disability myself that sometimes really gets in my way at work (I am a mechanic and fabricator by trade, depth perception would be darn nice for those), nothing as serious as what you have going on but I can somewhat relate. The important thing is to just accept that this is how life works sometimes, best thing we can do is just hang on and keep pushing forward. You have some tough times ahead of you, no question about it, but you can and I'm sure you will pound them down into the ground like a D9 bulldozer All you have to do is keep your spirits high, and if you need any support know that we are here for you
P.S. they have some crazy medical stuff out there now, you will drive your lifted stick-shift truck again no problem. In the mean time buy some beer and invite some buddies over and have them swap in that C6 for ya, and then buy them more beer and have them steal the air- or hydro-powered door steps off a city bus and hang them under your cab
poocher pup we are like a big family here,a dysfunctional weird one especially with a few of the members we have in here but none the less.you posting this tells me you think of us the same way.i wish you the best in your recovery.i have a friend that had the same amputation and ill tell you what he will surprise ya.heck i knew him for 2 years before i found out he was an amputee.it dont slow him down one iota, and he also drives a 5 speed.
It can be worse...remember that...That thought keeps me smiling and keeps me on top of things....The advancement in prosthetics is amazing....How you do is up to you...
As one of the disfunctional family members here we all wish you the best!
I doubt you're in this area but if you are I'll volunteer to join a group of guys to get a C6 or E40D swap going for you.
I'll bet it wouldn't take long to find a donor rig around here, then you'd have everything you need and we can swap the other one back. Shouldn't cost much to do if we resell the other one.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Grant. I don't get over to these forums much but I heard about this thread and wanted to let you know that we're thinking about you and wish you the best my friend. Hang in there and keep your chin up......things will get better.
people run marathons, soldiers carry on with no legs, and people become miracles. You are no different and you think about that and tell yourself everyday that you are no different than those before you who lead normal lives and do what they love. Physical therapy is a pain in the ***, don't get me wrong but the men and women who do that for those in physical need will help you achieve normalcy. Rest easy my brother, rest easy. The road will not be easy but remember, you are given time in life, albeit short. Do amazing things! i will pray with you.
Grant.....I took some time to go back through your post...I had no idea who you are or the type of man you are....
....it took me no time to see you are strong in belief and articulate, there is no doubt in my mind you will go at this ...with your mind clear, and goals in front of you...I also learned we have something in common...I am Type1...if you would like to chat sometime...PM me and give me some times......hang in there everyday is a new one.
Keep the faith man. There is nothing that a strong mind and desire cannot over come. You have friends here that care and are there for you if needed, some you have never met. I am one of them!
