How hard to adjust shift cable?
I need to adjust the shift cable on my 03 2wd auto escape, v6. I had a dealer install a new one, I moved out of state, and I am dissatisfied with it.
It is hard to get out of park - there is a lot of resistance. When positioned on drive, the car functions in drive, but the shifter itself does not drop into the drive position. It does, however, ride over the correct spot on the PRNDL indicator. The shifter will not select Low, which I never use.
The new, local dealer wants to disassemble the column, for $250. I bet I can do it for less than that...
