I have an 08 ESCAPE which will roll out of 3yr warranty very soon. No transmission issues but just wondering when i should do 1st service on tranny?

 

I did my wife's at 60K, used Mobil 1 Synthetic. Little expensive, but smoothed out the shifting and should last a long time. Unfortunately, I only got about another 6K on it before I totaled it, but I'd do the same service all over again if I had to...

 

I drain 4 qts. and refill with 4 qts every 2nd or 3rd oil change. Always have new trans fluid in the vehicle. I would never wait till 60K to change fluid no matter what Ford says. Do you know the heat that is generated by transmission, the fluid gets cooked real fast, synthetic or natural. May sound like overkill, but $14 a few times a year is not going to make me broke. And the thing is, it is so easy to drop the 4 qts. of fluid and add 4 new.
