....if it hit $5 they would let you have only so much gas at a time it would be like the gas shortage back in the 70's.
The official prediction of things to come includes what you have just said.
Is it coming? I'll guarantee you it is! Gas is a bargain at $3.00 a gallon when compared to countries elsewhere. Amsterdam, $6.80 a gallon. Sweden, $5.80 a gallon. Norway, $6.25 a gallon. Belgium, $6.00 a gallon. Denmark, $6.00 a gallon. Germany and France, $5.50 a gallon.
How long did we think the USA could avoid paying the same?
Gas/diesel prices will go that high and higher, and when it does, the America we have all known will be gone......
I suggest using our RVs real heavy this summer............they may never move again.
Long distance car travel across states and the country will be pretty much out. Most travel will be real local.
[QUOTE=VaSheriff;9749450]The ex-president of Shell Oil, John Hofmeister, said on TV this morning that fuel prices will be $5.00 a gallon within 18 months.
Before we all start either jumping off bridges or stocking our bunkers w/food & M16 ammo, I think he said $5 a gallon is a worst case scenario...not "will be in 18 months."
I made the mistake twice about getting rid of my big vehicles for a more economical one and I won't make it again. I'll just allocate more of my budget towards fuel.
I don't care what the prices are. I won't be voting for Obama regardless.

Having watched a video replay of the interview, I was mistaken.
He said by November of 2012. I guess that's 23 months.
I think a lot of this is just crying wolf. If fuel does hit that high it wont be for long the last time when Fuel was spiking up at 5 dollars a gallon yah it sucked. Drive less, I wouldn't go buy a smaller car because those prices are not gonna stay there. Last time around here all these people were buying those ridiculous Vespa moped's paying 5k and the fuel prices only spiked for about 7 months... to avoid paying a little more at the pump everyone was paying 5k up front to pay just just a little bit at the pump.
if the economy crashes stock up on canned food water guns and bullets...
In the 70's I filled up my Lincoln and used it as a storage tank for my bike. Only drove the linc when needed. Prices dropped. If this happens I will have a nice 44 gallon storage tank to hold fuel for my M109 suzuki which gets 35 to 40 mpg with the fairing on. I didn't buy this lumbering beast expecting that gas would drop. Life goes on and I will survive as will my Excursion and my boat. Just have to be smarter.
thats why i roll around in my pimped out focus and the wife drives a fusion! these big trucks are our vacation vehicles and my tow vehicle and when there is a s#!tload of snow on the ground trucks......
I guess we could all store Gas in our Ex's and sell the gas cheaper than the pump to people later after we bought it @ a cheaper price right?
Biggest thing I love i when the Ag boys fill up their Tractors and then drain them of the Farm Gas and put in their diesels.... nothing like damaging your truck to save 50-70cents a gal
