Plug the drain in the valley?

I don't care if my (expensive) clutch NEVER gets contaminated with oil/fuel again. Not sure who's stupid idea it was to drain this into the bellhousing, but I'm not impressed.

My preference would be to fabricate some kind of tube to collect the crap and direct it out the hole beside starter - but if that fails, I may just plug the damn hole up!

Whats the worst thing that could happen??

If you can gain access to the back of the motor (like when the transmission is out, you can easily, fabricate a tube to fit the install.

Engine out. Any pics of this?

Its a tight bend at the top... I'm thinking of soldering a 90* end on a piece of flexible copper???

If not, maybe a plate/cover that extends from valley hole to exit hole - isolating the space from bellhousing.

I will have some pics SOON. Gotta run to town and send South Bend my Con OFE to reface the organic side due to oil contamination.

I don't think there's room for even a 3/8" 90* fitting in there...

What if we plugged the existing hole and drilled/tapped a new one here? This is what I'm leaning toward!!!

Looking down...

Just like an alligator, they go right to sleep when ya flip'em upside down!

NO, the HF '1000lb' engine stand is not up to the task. If ya don't here from me for a few days, send somebody by to get this thing off me!

It is done.

3/8" copper. I had to cut the end of the 90* to get it in there and my 'bends' are crude, but I think it'll keep valley fluids OFF my clutch!!

I caulked it in, but its a pretty tight fit in the valley:

Here's the best pic from the valley-side I could get:

Lookin' up into drain hole:

HOPEFULLY putting the engine back in truck tomorow. We've had epic snowfall for our area and I've been distracted playing with the kids who have been out of school all week! We've been tearing it up on the off-road go-cart (snow-cart!!) and building igloos between sliding down the hills...

Good deal! Looks like it was successful! That will keep the oil/fuel off the clutch for sure!
