Help with interior light diagnosis
Hi gang
I have an issue with my interior light and was thinking that folks that have done work with them might be able to help.
Issue: When I open the doors (any doors), the interior lights often don't come on.
Things I know: It doesn't matter which door. If it doesn't come on with the driver door, and I open the other doors... it still doesn't come on.
It's the front and back overhead lights in the supercab
If they didn't come on and I turn on the truck and try to turn them on with the dash ****, they still don't come on.
The map lights work. So even when the overhead lights that should be coming on with the door opening don't come on, I can turn on the map lights that work out of the same overhead light fixture.
Eventually, if I sit long enough, they sometimes come on.
What throws me is that the map lights always come on when I turn them on even if the "dome" isn't coming on... so it doesn't seem like a power issue. Maybe a ground? *but wouldn't they have the same ground too?
Thanks for any hints you may have
The truck is supposed to alert you when the keys are in the ignition when the truck is off, it goes bing bing bing etc. They then are supposed to shut off when you take the keys out.
My issue is:
If ive left my keys in the ignition (engine off) sometimes when i go to open the door it doesnt make a sound, other times it bings or beeps like its supposed to. Sometimes ill wait a second or two and it will start making its noise, othertimes if i jiggle the key in the ignition itll start making the sound, other times it just wont make a peep. Honestly I couldnt care less if makes noise or not, but if its something that is wrong like a bad ground, then it becomes more important to figure out.
Ive owned fords my whole life, and come from a ford family.
just another Famous Ford Phantom Eletrical Issue?
