Have a 2017.
Pulled into the driveway last night, parked, turned on the drivers side map light. Turned off the truck. Clicked the button on the map light to turn it off. Opened the door, locked it, closed the door, went inside. (maybe I opened the door before hitting the button, but I don't recall that)
Come out this morning to go to work, got in a different car, looked over and the drivers side map light in the truck is still on. (means its been on all night) Went over, unlocked it, climbed in from the passenger side and reached over to click the button to turn it off. Locked the truck, shut the door, got back in the other car and waited until the all the lights went off on the truck. They did, but the drivers side map light was still on.
Got in the drivers seat in the truck, closed the door, waited until all the lights when out... the map light remained on. Clicked the button for the map light to turn it off, it did turn off. Climbed out, locked it, closed the door, got back in the other vehicle, waited for all the truck lights to dim out... FINALLY the drivers side map light is still off!
What is it with that? Why can't the map light be turned off during the illuminated period or right after turning off the truck.
I found the exact same behavior with the overhead lights. The computer doesn’t seem to register button pushes if the lights are already on due to door opening. Have had to sit in the truck several times now to let all other lights go out, turn off overhead/reading light, then exit the truck.

I suspected the button only signals the computer and does not operate the lamp directly. Maybe Ford could fix that in the computer program.
Funny, I can't get my lights to stay on! I often have to fill out paperwork while sitting in the truck. All too soon, it seems, the lights all go off and I can't get them back on without turning the key on.
I also have this problem. For me it is the lights in the backseat. Kids turn them on to unload stuff and then I have to deal with them. I wish I could just push the button to turn them off.
Ya. Had that happening to me multiples times. The whole trying to get them to go off sequence!! After a while I realized it wasn’t me but a quirk of the truck .. best thing to do is restart and turn things off...that’s crazy. I still shake my head when it happens.
