Mirror swap?

I've got plain power mirrors on my 05. I want to upgrade to 09+ power, heated, turn, and folding mirrors. I hear they will plug in and function fine. I know I will need to change my switch for the power fold to work.

so, has anyone done this? Any issues? Plug and play?

Not plug and play. You should look at the aftermarket mirrors that can be retrofitted and look the same as OEM. The wiring is not there in your truck to support it and your truck is not can bus.

What if they are just power with turn signals? No heat no folfing.

They don't exist factory. All mirrors that had turn signals had heated mirrors. Are you going with OEM mirrors or aftermarket?

I'm hoping to go OEM.

Regular mirrors or tow mirrors? OEM is expensive.

Regular with turn signals and painted caps. Looking to get them used. I've found them from $100 - $200

I'd kill for some heated mirrors too. Was wondering about this. Keep us updated, I want to swap mine for heated somehow too. Montana winters suck.

Not enough positive feedback to justify the purchase. But, I do know the plug going to the mirror on my truck has 6 wires, and the mirror only has 4 pins. So, the wiring may be there to support something like a 04-08 KR or Lariat mirror.

I mainly wanted to do it to have 09 up mirrors on a 05. Just cuz I like stuff like that.

You could make it work. Fabricate and engineer whatever you need to get that mirror on the door. Make the parts fit. Different connections and the harness is different? Cut off the harness. Then manually run the wires. Connect your turn signals by splicing into the actual turn signal harness. Splice the heated mirror into the circuit which operates your heat. I should not be that hard to strip insulation and connect wires.

With that being said.......I'm not doing it myself, so good luck.

I get it. It's not easy. That's ok I just painted my mirror caps, and I'm happy with it for now. Thanks for the feed back.

The signal part is easy. Drill a few holes, and mount LED lighting to the mirror cap. Then run the wire along the OEM wires into the door, and through the rubberized wire boot back into the cab, where you can tap into your OEM signals.

How creative do you want to be?

Is the time & effort worth the end result?

If you're really motivated, then start planning.......
