Hi, First post on this forum. Wondering what I could get for seats that wont be to big or to small to fit my 49 cab. would like something comfy and still have legroom as I'm 6'2 and also does anybody make 9' bed side panels? Trying to build a truck to pull my gooseneck and antique tractors. Started with a 49 f2 putting it on a 88 f350 chassis with a 6bt cummins and e4od trans. Anybody done this one yet? Any ideas would be welcome
Nobody is making bedsides for anything but the typical short beds, as far as we know. The larger beds are not only longer, but taller, as well, so you really can't even piece together short bed parts and have them look right. So it's either repair what you have or find better used stuff as your only truly practical options.
I'm also 6'2". The Ranger/Mazda/Nissan/Dakota bench seat from about 1985-1995 gives you ample leg room and room at the steering wheel if you lean it back a little.
Mounting a '48-52 body on a newer chassis can be a real challenge for two main reasons. First, the width of a newer, post '72 truck is wider than the older trucks and your wheels will stick out beyond your fenders. Second, the older frames are pretty flat, the newer trucks' frames have raise sections.
Member 51dueller has done the best body swap I've seen, you might want to take a look at his detailed discription on the way he did his.
Thanks for the replys. The Ranger style seats sound good. Guess I'll be going to the salvage yard this weekend if it dont snow. Then I'll be able to figure out where the steering wheel and pedals will end up. Thanks again I'm sure I'll be asking more questions
Located in southern NH, Nice truck! Going to be looking for dark colored seats as this is going to be a working truck and I dont want to have to overly carefull about how I get in it Thanks, Ken
