I am wondering if anybody on this forum has ever taken out their stock bench seat and put it two bucket seats and built a center council. I want to maybe put bucket seats in my truck and build a custom center council because the bench seat does not seat three anyways and I would like to have the storage in between the seats to hide a radio. Thanks for looking.

I think you need to have 5 posts on the site before you can use the search function. I know the seats topic has been thoroughly discussed on here, and lots of folks have made the switch to non-stock seats with several consoles.
When you can do a search, use the "Advanced" search function.
Go to the top of the forum page and select Search / Advanced Search / Seats / this forum. You'll have to read several posts, but it's also a learning experience. I find myself getting lost in subjects other than what I was searching for because of all the knowledge shared on this site.
Search is in the middle of this page.
Then select the Advanced Search at the bottom of this popup
Finally, add your search topic and select this forum
While I have a '55, not sure of the cab width difference. I installed second or third row seats from a Honda passport which also had a fold down arm rest with cup holders. All three pieces are separate units and fit nicely in my truck and they were leather. I did have to take off the outside arm rests so I had room between the doors and the seats. you can view in my garage.
Whatever you decide you better keep it all American. I would personally check out a set of buckets from a Dodge full sized truck. That is if you don't want one of the stock seats in my "junk".
And don't tint the windows!!!! You might as well leave it as is and put some ghetto 30" wagon wheels. Just remember if you do you'll have to find another place to park it.

Young Mr. Jones - It's your Truck - Not another of Old Mr. Jones builds.
One word of caution - If you go towards any other make of drive train I will drive up there and help Dad drag you back and forth thru the manure pile for at least a wek

Ah yes, Mr. Crabtree, but he does live at home and is using my shop and is diving into my private stash of parts not to mention I was the one who originally bought this truck which he is getting for less than what it cost me to get. I will also be doing the major part of the body work. I may not be able to control what others do to their rides but I will weld power over how this truck is being built. No crap rods or patina, this truck is going to be good enough to park next to my trucks. We have room out in the back for junk.
Now, it he does try to change drive trains you're more than welcome to come up and kick a little butt, but if you've seen Andy you will find out it's not a little butt.
Seats out of a Dodge/Chryslet Caravan/Town & Country will work. They're have the right height and the pass side even has a storage compartment. Plus, you should be able to find them cheap at your local pick and pull yard. They also come power and manual.
EDIT: Also wondering why Andy's user name isn't andyj49f1???
We've got a '50 - Our cabs are a little narrower than the '53 & up.
The width limit in our cab is right at 52 inches max. We left room on the
side for seatbelts & went with a 48 inch wide bench seat (from an S10).
Buckets can work but not the big fancy thick ones. Anything from the smaller trucks will fit - Dakotas, Ranger, S-10, etc.
Good luck over there!

(My 22 year old son Zack is helping me work on the front suspension this weekend - Another father son project - Looking good Andy).
On one of my past trucks i had the frame with no insert. I build a wooden platform and put camaro bucket seats with a center console. The one thing i was i had done was had a fold down pad to cover it for those times you needed the bench seat. Many cars and trucks have it all in one now so you can have best of both worlds. Dont forget the seat pedestal front and above the windshield for mounting things.
Welcome to the forum, young Jones. Shown are middle seats from a late '80s, early '90s GM van. They slide fore and aft, the backs tilt and lock in different positions, the backs swing fully forward, they have arm rests both sides and have head rests. The passenger seat has a dual fold down cup holder that fits between the seats. I made the frames with slight seat adjustments possible. I mounted the passenger seat close to the door as possible and centered the driver seat behind the steering wheel.
IMO, these seats are nicely proportional to the size of the cab. I've driven the truck a couple hundred miles and they are comfortable.
These seats are plentiful and reasonable.
