i have a 1978 f150 regular cab pickup, it has 2 captains chairs in it now but i need a bench seat, i found 2 one is in a 1979, and the other is in a 1976 ford truck, but both are supercabs, and the seats fold in to the center, with split backs, would either of these seats work in my truck, or does anybody know of any original bech seats for this truck. i am currently in southern new mexico. thanks
Pete, either seat should work just fine. I have seen posted that up to 97 will work, but have wondered why beyond wont. Some of the later ones have been reported to have needed the rails changed to your model truck.
I hope that it works for you.

In the cool still quite of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
In 97 Ford changed the floor of the cab and the front mounts are angled down. Anything up to and including 96 will bolt in, you may need to change the rails but anything will fit. I've got a backseat from an 86 van in mine, I just had to keep my original slides.

beartracks, i am interested in the seat, how can i get a hold of you. the only problem is that i dont have any of the original rails for the seat, because the captains chairs are aftermarket ford van seats.
umm....why don't you just visit your local junk yard and pull the rails off a seat? I live in El Paso...pretty close to you and my junk yards have several of these truck seats with rails...they arnt pretty though.. I put a 92' seat in my 79 and had to swap the rails from the old seat...if your going to replace the seat put something newer in your truck...dosent make sense to put a 20 yr old seat in there...just my 2 cents.... If your really want an old seat i have my old one that you can have...it is missing the rails and needs to be uphosltered bad. right now its a couch for my garage but its taking up space...
