What have you guys used for sound damping? I have been researching it and have found alot of choices. The obvious answer is dynamat but it is way too exspensive..(i think) so im looking for some alternatives.
Jeg's has a kit similar to Dynamat but for less. Another alternative is Lizard Skin. IIRC, Lizard Skin has two types, sound control and the other is heat resistant. If using both, the SC is sprayed first. More preparation involved but we usually have more time than money, right?
Myself im planning on rhinolining the firewall floor and inside back of the cab, then dynamat inside the doors back quarter and roof. Carpet padding has crossed my mind as far as a cheap alternative, but im not sure how well it will work.
Im looking to do the underside of the hood right now. I would like to stay away from the spray on styles.
if you want the best I would go for secondskin. Sound Deadening Materials for Noise Reduction from Second Skin.or if you want a slightly cheaper alternative look for some fat mat. second skin is the best ive used so far hands down. or you could go really cheap and use peal and seal. does the job. just starts to loose its adhesiveness after a while
