Y block sound

I do not have a sound track but if you give me a phone number, I'll put the phone behind her and let you listen.

Whadda ya wanna hear? Thru glasspacks? W/ the dumps open? How about takin her to 4,000 RPM and backing off - - - REAL good rapping sound!

Rocklock, what a great reply. Better than the sound track. Chipmunk should take you up on your offer.
Like him I had never heard a Y running until I finally got mine to the point of starting 1.5 years ago or so. I think I even asked a similar question before that.
Good luck Chipmunk and good fun.

I listened to the sound file and looked at the related threads. Some people have all the luck. $150 for a rebuilt Y! Doesn't get better than that.

No Kidding! It even came with a holley 4 barrel installed and a pertronix ignition. Those 2 parts alone would be worth the $150.

I need to find a deal like that.

Y-blocks have a great sound and are even meaner sounding with glass packs. I've had mine for about 12 years and have received many compliments on the sound. One night after a car show in Garden Grove, I pulled into a gas station followed by a gangbanger type. He got out and sauntered up to me while I was starting to get the gas nozzle inserted. Expecting to be robbed, I was pleasantly surprised when he said, "Hey, what kinda exhaust you got on that?" After I told him, he nodded and drove off into the night. Jag

Wish I had a sound file of my Y block so you could hear it, not your typical Y block but it does have a great sound.
I'm running a 292 bored .060 over with ported heads, Holman-Moody 882 cam, LeMans grind with 304 duration, 238@50 with .506 lift; '57 factory 2-4 intake with Holley 4000's . Exhaust is thru factory manifolds into 2¼" exhaust with 2 chamber Flowmasters. It's not a pickup but it's definately a a cool Y block here's a picture.
