Snow and no 4x4

I dont want to take my truck into the dealer. We got our first snow fall and I locked my hubs into place switched into 4wheel, I heard the drivers side lock into place and to test I used a screw driver to rotate the passenger side into place. The passenger side just spins while the driver side locks. Any trouble shooting would be great

Did you try to manually lock both hubs and do your test? don't have one hub in auto and the other locked, keep them the same so rotate them both to lock.

Im assuming he means the wheel will turn independently of the axle on the side in question = no power to the wheel. The other side that locks holds with the axle = has power in 4x4. Of course, in an open diff that means no power to either.

Well since nobody has given any advice, I'll give it a go...

Remove the locking hub, then disassemble, clean and LIGHTLY grease and re-assemble. The hub locks under the power of a weak spring, if there is grit, ice, too much grease or too little grease the hub won't lock.

OH i guess you can read it that way too...that would indicate a broken hub i guess... you can also take the OP to mean that one wheel spins when he hits the GO pedal... that would mean he needs better tires...

As Scott said "some hub maintenance is going to be required".

Tiss the season to winter up, so to speak. I went through my rig really good last month on everything I could possibly maintain because I dont wanna see my butt out there freezing in the snow if I broke down, my luck I wouldnt be able to call AAA.
