Truth be told I've never even been hunting but my dad used to years ago and like you guys it was to put meat on the table. I was too young to remember it though. Even if I wanted to pick it up, I probably wouldn't have the time for it. On rare occasions when I was offered some wild meat it was delicious though. Wild animals don't do drugs.

And yeah I was kidding. There are so many "do - gooder" fanatics out there that I sometimes pick up and regurgitate their ideas in a mocking satirical parody just for fun. Satire can be a powerful weapon if you can evoke mockery of these people for what they really are - control freaks.

So when I say happy hunting, I meant go out there, enjoy the great outdoors, kill something, bring it home, eat it, and be proud of it. You can throw a beer in there somewhere if you want.

Well that depends on what you hit them with - my 1-ton does an alright job at tenderizing them and my oilfielder pretty much pulverizes them on impact, but I'd hate to hit one with a passenger car of any sort... Still, you're right deer ain't nothing compared to the moose running around up in your neck of the woods!

Got 10 inches of snow yesterday, another 5-10 inches supposed to hit Tuesday, then clear skies and 5 degrees for low, 27 for high.

We had a good discussion a few years ago on the ULSD. Wax drop out occurs far sooner than fuel from a few years ago. DaveS had/has some very good info on todays fuel. Seems like the wax dropout is starting at barely under 32 degrees. The wax of course is plugging the fuel filter.

Remember the last couple years and the extreme cold that hit the mid-west. Diesels were shut down every where. The only ones not having problems were those that dbl dose fuel with a good additive. I sure wouldn't trust fuel right out of the pump at -10 degrees.

2 yrs ago my truck gelled in the filter sitting in the driveway for a few days without starting. Coldest temps were 4-5 degrees.

BTW, I think winter has officially struck Salt Lake City!

hey, see food kill food eat food!
I make quick kills when I hunt, but I've seen my dog torture a couple things to death and you can't say she needed to kill them to eat, she's go plenty of food in her bowl!

Anyways, it was -18C (~0F) here yesterday and she started a little rough. Glowed twice and cranked real slow then ripped off with a few seconds of white smoke. Shook like mad tho! Need to plug the block heater soon enough...

Slow crank is from a real bad battery terminal... replacement dual cables are pricey tho, anyone find a better option? International has 950CCA group 31 truck batts on sale 80$, I'm considering completely rewiring, their posts look way better too.

We're in a cold snap here. We're expecting a foot or so of snow too. 8 new Berus sure make it start a whole lot better.

I've got a battery dealer here that has a source for aftermarket cables, I think they are about $85 or so for the dual one for the positive cable. Let me know if you want me to check into it, I could get one and ship it up to you if you want.

starting to get cold up here in wonderful vacation land Maine.
entering the first winter with the IDI(last winter didn't count,i just got it,and started fixing it up.)
she likes the 5w 40w synthetic.i can tell easier starts already.

3/0 tinned marine cables.a good powerful starter.an e-pump.good oil for easy starts.good set of beru's.
now if i get around to installing my plow's wiring harness,i'll be ready.rainy out today though.
push plates all on,and she lines up perfect.
not sure about duals in the snow (some claim ok,but i just don't see it happening personally.i will try em though, even though im 99% sure they'll suck compared to running srw.)
still haven't tested my block heater lol.never needed it yet.
overall,im close to ready.

upper 30 degree temps.2-3 second cold starts.

Were are you located? My cables are on their last legs, and NOBODY around here sells anything close to what I need, or a high enough gague. I had resigned myself to making some.
