How do you Center Steering Wheel.

I just replaced Drag Link, Track bar bushings, and both Tie Rod ends on my 1978 4x4 F150. The Truck is running straight down the road with no pull at all, but the steer wheel is turned to the right about 20 degrees. I was told at the alignment shop that this is not adjustable. He said there is after market drag link that has an adjust or from reading on here sounds like I would have to pull the steering wheel and re-align it. Please let me know what you all think. Is this actually the case, why wouldnt it have adjustment built in, and How did it get off if there isnt anyway to adjust it? Seems to me something would have to have moved, shifted or broke for the Steering wheel not to be centered. Thanks for your help.

How long have u had this Truck.. Could be that the truck was out (because of wear) before the work u had done and the PO might have tried compensating for this with the steering wheel, and now that new parts are in it's back to where it should be. U just have to put it back. The steering wheel is your best bet (easy) as i think u can adjust the pitman arm but might be more work. My little S-10 has been out 15 deg. for 8 years now.. Is this a reliable alignment shop? maybe get a second opinion? Hey, I guess that's why your here, isn't it.. Keep all that new stuff greased..

If I remember correctly you can pull the steering wheel and center it that way.

Yeah, the steering wheel is just splined, w/o flats. So just get the wheel set to where the truck's going straight, pull it off, and put it back on with the wheel centered.

Easiest way to do it. You just need a puller is all and you can get those pretty cheap or rent. That's the thing with modern shops these days. They don't know things like this. Makes you wonder how many people are going to alot more trouble to fix a simple thing.
