Still haven't sold it or did you decide to keep it? I'm the one who test drove your Ex about 2 weeks ago.
Oh hey whats going on man. Yea I decided to keep it. It really wasnt worth selling. For what you get in the excursion, if I sold it, there wouldnt be anything half way comparable that I could get instead. I would still sell it for the right price, but Im not trying to sell it. So have you bought anything yet?
How much of the shaft is showing? That should give someone in here an indication if they will go in. If its about an inch and a half they're probably in. If that's the case have you tried pulling them out?
My buddy's 2000 excursion limited 4x4 v10 had the telescoping mirrors. As I was trying to pull one out to the "towing" position, I thought I was going to break it I was pulling so hard.... but then I thought, if it isn't doing what it is supposed to do, it's already broken. A short time later, one got clipped in the city. I think that mirror was $276 for just the part to replace!

Yes i have tried pulling them out also. They look exactly like the ones on my f250 that i can pull in or out. There is plenty of room to move them about the shaft.

Still looking but in no hurry, I'm taking the family on a 5000 mile trip out west next summer and was looking for something bigger to pull my travel trailer. Like I told you yours was the first Ex that I had ever driven or even sat inside of, all I can say is wow I'm impressed.

yes they are definetly a breed of their own. Do you remeber what your buddy said was wrong with my front end? I'm planning on fixing it here pretty soon.. Thanks.
Ball joints and tie rod ends, that alone was in the $700 range, the manifold leak was at best $500 worst case was $1500-$2000 without actually tearing it apart to see where exactly the leak was at. From my research here the ball joints have to be replaced about 75K miles and is a common problem, others confirmed the $700 range for having it fixed.
Ok thanks. I luckally have 2 ford master mechanics as friends. I'm not going to fix the manifold since it's only a noise issue for the most part though.
I bought my X new. The heated towing mirror folds but does not telescope. It looks like it should but it does not. Nothing in the manual says it telescopes either.
My 2000 x telscopes in and out BUT my 99.5 F350 is fixed in out position. From what I understand the mirrors used in 99 didn't telescope and the telescoping ones started in the 2000 model year.
