If anyone needs help with this PM. It was pretty simple.
This sounds perfect for us Excursion 6.0 owners, since we don't have the upfitter switches like the trucks do. Can you send me the info on how to do the mod, I'm a fairly new poster and not sure if I can PM .

I took the orange wire that is found behind the e-brake (in a bundle of wires) I stripped the end of it. I took 16 gauge wire that I bought at Auto Zone and connect it with a solderless connector and crimped/taped it.

I ran the wire to the fuse box where I found an empty slot ( I can't remember the number off hand, but it was the 2nd row from the left, top slot. It's was marked empty). I took a 10a mini fuse, wrapped the bare wire around it and plugged it in.

The only thing I questioned was wether this will deliver power to it even if the truck is off. Its hard to tell because it is in a factory empty slot and not sure if it turns off with the truck. I am not to worried about it. I guess if you are you could connect to the radio or some other 10a fuse.

Not to hijack but for me I do not have to set the parking brake to engage. I ran the wires to a switch. All I do is start the engine and flip the switch and she runs at 1200 rpm.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks
Thad

Shouldn't be. I have mine the same way. The switch controls the power, just like the e-brake becomes the switch.

This is so you don't have to use a switch

Although it was my understanding that 3 things had to be in place in order for it to go into high idle regardless if you have a switch or not.

1. Gear in Park
2. foot off brake
3. E-brake set

Mine:
1. Gear in Park
2. Foot off brake

start motor let it sit a few moments, flip switch. Doesn't matter if e-brake is set or not. Did mine with the 04 directions.

Bismic and Best Kind of Ex, I was under the assumption that the Excursion does NOT have the wires included in their harness for the high idle mod. I installed this on my 04 SD several years ago and love it and wanted to do an 06 Excursion at work. We looked all over in the dash, but no open wires for the hook up like in the super duty. If anyone out there has done a 06 Excursion, please fill me in.

I had not heard that before! Hope it is not true, but you are probably more informed on this than I am.
