Finished hooking the high idle up on the 06 SD. No switch. Just connected the orange wire to an empty slot in the fuse panel with 10a fuse. Hit the e-brake and it works like gold.
If anyone needs help with this PM. It was pretty simple.
So, any time you put on the e-brake with the gear selector in park it goes to high idle?
Don't mean to hijack but, thanks for the blanket today Steve and nice talking to you. Did you win the HP pool? If your ever in the area and have a problem or just feel like a beer, you have my number. Mike
Yes. It saves an upfitter switch for some thing cooler.
Thats a great idea, glad someone looked at it from that angle.
If theres one thing I've learned about these switches, it's that you'll always be finding doo-dads to hook to them.
I like that idea better than a switch that I would probably forget to flip, guess I can't forget to take the E-brake off and expect to go anywhere.
I'm about to move back to PA where it gets freagin cold so this sounds like something I'll tackle tomorrow when I plug my block heater cord in.
"When you start the truck with the e-brake engaged does the motor go to high idle immediately?
Yes. Right up to 1200 RPMS"
In colder weather, like say -25/-30..... wouldn't automatically jumping up to 1200 RPM harm the engine???? Im just thinking u dont fire it up and haul on 'er, so why would you let it fire up and instantly go to 1200 RPM????

Well there is like a 10 second delay from the time it starts to the time it kicks up.
It will not harm the motor. Its better to let it warm up this way.
My High Idle kicks in probably not even 5 seconds after start-up.... I just figured that if everything is really stiff u might bend or break something internal, I've heard of bending pushrods and breaking rockers ....

I grew up in Philipsburg, but I've got a house up in the Houtzdale area. It's west of you on the other side of State College. Sucks cause I'm getting out of the Army and now I gotta find a real job, but I love it up there and can't wait to get back.
