I'm from Malden, but I live in Gideon now. I lived in Mansfield mo for a little while but I moved back to Semo, I still go out to southwest mo once a month to visit my in-laws. Have you ever gone wheeling at Seymour?

I still have some ties to SEMO, friends, family, etc. Yes I wheel at SMORR ( Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch) in Seymour. Not as much as I would like to. Been doing that unemployed thing since March 2009, I did get a permanent part time job though. It is only 25 hours a week, it has insurance and benifits though which is what I needed, Cobra was running out. I belong to the Ozark Mountain 4X4 Club. Several of the guys in the club are regulars at SMORR. I usually make it when the club is helping put on an event. We are working on the owner to have some kind of closed course truck type race. They have some Mo-Rock races there already. Do you just have a 2x4? Have you done any of the tuff truck races? That is about as close as us Hillbillys get to racing like the west coast guys. They let you run what ya bring in most of those. They are supposed to have one in Lebanon in Jan or Feb. Some of the club guys are talking about racing. There was supposed to be a track up north of Poplar Bluff that was trying to get some truck racing started, I can't remember the website now. If your interested I'll ask one of my friends that was going to try to go race.
Good luck with the pre-runner build. Listen to Chase Truck, He is GOOD.
Is there any benefits of flipping the rear shackle hangers?
If I remember right the stock shackle pivots from the bottom and points up. If this is the case leave it. If the stock shackle pivots from the top and the shackle hangs down - then flip it.
On 70's trucks like mine the shackle points up stock and many people flip it over for a cheap lift. NOT what you want to do for a "prerunner" truck.
thanks chase I thought that the shackle needed to be pointed up. Im just gathering info make my brain bigger you know...LOL
And Moose I dont really have the truck yet my employer is fixing to auction it off and I can get it really cheap...I mean really cheap it is only a 2x4 but tuff truck races would be fun. there is a place north of Sikeston that is racing trucks on a 4wheeler track it looks like a ball. and Bricks off road park at bluff well between bluff and doniphan is a great place for trail riding I always took my Samurai out there
Have not been to Bricks yet. We were going to go last spring to the Trucks Gone Wild but one of my friends son decided to get married that weekend. Had to go you know. That place north of Sikeston is the one I was talking about, hopefully he will have more races this year. If they stay consistant I will have to build a truck to race. I had a buddy that would pull one of the back plug wires off in a place that was hard to see. On trucks at auctions so when they started it would have a miss, hoping they would go cheaper. Later Moose
dont expect that one north of sikeston to last long the guy running is hard to get along with and he dont want to pay out, I raced 4wheelers there and almost all those guys quit going because of that.
well it looks like all this info gathering was for nothing. I dont think they are gonna action the truck off.......dagumit.........Thanks to each and every one for the info..I hope that it helps some one else to accomplish there pre runner build....I know if I ever get the chance it is gonna happen so its not time wasted, I did learn a great deal....
