I'm in the market for an F150 crew cab and just wondering has anyone ever thrown a system in one?
How are they for room under the back seat to put one in?
Just curious thats all.
Thanks.
you can do 2 10's or 1 12, with the seat but i seen on youtube someone remove the rear seat and build a seat bottom that is also a box for 2 12's. you just need alot of air space to use 2 12's.
These are rough measurements, but the clearance under my SCrew's backseat ranges from as little as 3" to as much as 7" (again, ROUGH measurements).
You can purchase preformed boxes that house one 10" (JL Audio and MTX for example) or you can go the custom route. Keep in mind that you'll have to lose the jack kit (passenger side under back seat) if you plan on stuffing more than one sub back there.
It all depends on your tastes. If you love stomach sickening bass, then you'll want to go with two 12"s and relocate the jack, etc. Most have found that the stealth box from JL Audio provides enough low end for their tastes.
mcdavis i dont think thiers enuf room for two 12's under the stock seat even without the jack because on average a 12 takes 1 to 1.5 sq ft air space each. the one i seen had the subs firing foward where the back of your legs would be and you were setting on the box. if you dont have enuf air space they wont hit hard and you would be better with tens. also i know behind the back seat on the passenger side is a great place to hide an amp but the seat back is a bitch to remove
I have a JVC in dash DVD touchscreen TV powering the stock speakers and a Bazzoka amp mounted under the back seat on the hump powering a single JL 8" in a custom under the (driver side) back seat and it sounds incredible! Still have the jack etc on pass side.
You can get pre-fab boxes that will hold 2 10" subwoofers for about $100. Put the amp under the drivers seat or behind the back seat. No modifications are required. Best subwoofers to go with is your pancake subs. Pioneer, Kenwood, MTX, and I think Memphis all make these subs. They can operate in 0.5-1.0 cubic feet of air. The stage three pioneer, TSSW2501 series, is what sounds the best to me.
I had a dual 12" downfiring box that i bought of ebay for about $50 with shipping. I ordered 2 12" low profile Power Acoustic subs from sonic electronix for cheap and they sounded awesome. I planned on selling my truck for a BMW so I sold everying and now I'm back to the stock 8. The only problem I had with the 2 12's was that my jack and amp were sitting on the floor behind the driver seat, so if someone was to sit there they'd have their feet all over your amp.
