Looking for an A/C system

Hello all,

I'm looking for an A/C system for my truck. I can piece one together but if someone has the whole thing that they're not going to use, or know of a company that make's a complete after market setup for the 73-79 pickups that would be great too.

Thanks

1978 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 - 351m

Thanks, I had searched for one awhile back with no luck. Used would be cheaper but this is a good complete kit. Thanks again

I was looking for the same thing. Not being familiar with the stock setup, is that one a copy of the stock A/C unit or is it quite different?

That would nearly be the equivalent of a dealer add on unit. Factory air has the evaporator on the outside of the firewall.

I went to the site and read their instructions but with few pics and not having the parts in front of me, it is kind of unclear. I am guessing the add on doesn't require cutting the firewall then? I am debating something like that or just finding a donor truck at the junk yard and doing a factory style install.

Only a couple holes to pass the hoses through will be required, not full hacking like trying to add factory air.

I'd love to see the same information. The website instructions and information on the product is less than impressive. They should have pictures at least of the finished product and a better install .pdf.

Gracias. If I choose to do an upgrade, I'll have to do a write up on it with lots of pics.

I found a donor truck yesterday with factory A/C I think, it was dark though so didn't get a great look. It had this huge box sticking out of the front of the firewall on the passenger side engine bay. I got lucky looking at some other truck parts and found a guy that had a 1979 2wd F250 camper special, minus the motor and tranny for a few hundred bucks, Some days it just works out. Going to use a bunch of the parts off the truck for mine but probably going to part out the rest if anyone needs odds and ends. Once I get the truck home I'll try to list the stuff.

No I don't have experience with this kit, my truck is a factory A/C truck. I just saw it when I was looking at stuff for my truck.

I heard back from the company Saturday. I was plesantly surprised to get a response so quickly. The system actually looks pretty straight forward, and easy to install into a non A/C truck. Here's the pic's they sent me. I just asked them for a picture of the controls, wondering if you use a factory A/C controller, or ??? I will let you know what they say.

So you remove the entire dash to do the install but it looks like only the left vent will work in the picture although the kit shows the right vent and what looks like a vent you would put over by the driver door. Maybe there are tubes that run from that one outlet to the other two or maybe there is another outlet in the back. I'm guessing you have to install the dash vents by cutting holes in the existing dash or by finding a donor dash that had A/C to begin with. It also looks like maybe it sucks outside air from the lower passenger vent. I would have to relocate the tach that the PO installed where the driver side vent is though which would be irritating, or I could just leave it off I suppose.
