There were several companies who mad conversion crew cabs in the 50's. Many of these trucks were for utility or forestry service. I currently cannot find my book that shows the companies who did these conversions.
The guy who asked me the question and who is looking to buy the truck just sent me a qualifier:
"The truck started life as a '56 truck and a company (not sure if in California) ADDED the back half from a 3/4 Ton truck. Jump seats (for kids) Extended frame, professionally done. Standard 6 foot bed. Per the guy, 3 were made this way. Drives straight and looks good."
Looks like it's some kind of conversion, as you said. Not what I'd like to have but.... wonder what it looks like.
Thanks Graham, I guess this one made it's way from California to Hawaii. My friend went to look at it yesterday. Nice truck but he passed on it.
The Old Timer is in the Sacramento area. We just purchased a small window 56 and will be taking it back to original. So far, it's been fun and when the rain stops we'll have it out on the road.
