Of course, my truck has been sluggish until the temp gauge begins to come up when first started due to what I always thought was the EBPV.. I unplugged the electrical connector from the pedestal like I had read on here, and oddly enough, it still does it. It barely has the power to move out of it's way for the first three or four miles unless I get the RPM's up, and then after the temp starts creeping up, she's fine. What's next to try?
does she smoke at all?? a cold motor will not burn fuel as efficient as a warm motor..diesel dont have spark to force it to fire..it takes heat and compression to fire..the oil in the HPOP is also a little thick when cold and will also take from the power...if you just start and go with no warm up time it will feel a little powerless...dont force her to make power till she is warm..
May have to do with a cold start... it doesn't matter if it's 90 or 40 degrees, same issue. Even when in a hurry, I at least give 'er a full minute before taking off after first start of the day... Takes a few miles before she wants to pull, and I don't push the issue. Only smoke I see is a slight wisp of white IF it's below 45 or so. Rotella 5w-30, about 2,500 miles since last change, but condition has been the same since bought in Feb.
On another note Ron, where did you find those tow mirrors you've got? I really don't care if I get heated or not (although a good feature to have I'm sure), but I really would like a lighted set. Do they have the turn signals on them too?
