Reading other forums they say to clean the BPEV tube and keep it hooked up, it effects cold start ( with it disconnected it did seem to start harder) and fuel mi. Next I think I'll try cleaning out the tube and sensor. Any info on this?
Make sure you understand the difference between the website and the valve. They are not related. The valve is for cold starts and the sensor is for PCM calculations.
Don't disconnect the sensor, but the valve is fine. It won't effect starting. All it does is increase load on the engine to warm up faster.
Will cleaning this help prevent the valve from sticking open? When I start my 1997 7.3 and its below 40 degrees sometimes and let it run anywhere between 3-5 minutes I will drive off and the truck sounds like I have an exhaust brake on that doesn't work. Whenever I try to cruise down the road or accelerate(sometimes) It feels and sounds like I have an exhaust brake going.
