new cps

Is it possible that replacing a grey cps with 287000 miles on it with one of internationals black ones would make a huge difference? It seems the truck idles much smoother, and accelerates a little more smoothly... May be my imagination... I did change my oil at the same time.

I am starting to wonder if it was on its way out.

I prefer the black ones. Too many people had trouble with the gray ones. I've ran the blue too but took it out as they do not play nice with tuners.

I just ordered a couple new black cps's from Clay, 1 to install and 1 spare, haven't changed out the old one yet but will let you know if I experience the improvement in performance. Plan on installing tomarrow, so I'll post back the results.

I think the international black one is worth putting in. Mine is all around running smoother and stronger. The long trips I have made since the install have shown to be better economy wise too.

Just got back from test drive after CPS replacement, and I agree. The black CPS makes a difference. Starts and idles smoother, and when I put my foot into, wow, 80 MPH in no time flat. Well worth the cost and the 10 minutes to install.

Is there a"new" International CPS out,I'm running an International black(I think) from about three years ago.I haven't had any CPS issues but I have been wondering what else is out there.

I also got mine changed today I did not drive it just made sure it started. I hope it idles smoother mine seems to be getting rougher over the last year. I put in the international one I got from Clay. I was actually physically diff than what was in there (the ford replacement).

Yea it's a graphite color, almost black & has a purple o-ring. The guy at the International place told me it's the latest greatest. $27

I would say that is is quite possible. I did a little work to my trucks on Saturday and they both received International (black) CPS which replaced the dealer recall grey units. Both trucks now pass the CCT test and rotational velocities are almost perfect. Prior to the CPS change, #3 and #8 were high and a few other cylinders were showing minor deviations. So, if AE can tell the difference, then I bet the PCM can as well.

One of my trucks received a little more love than the other one though....it also got some new up-pipes, FRx, oil change, fuel filter change and 4 turbo housing bolts (originals were missing) When I finished last night, it ran much smoother than before and seemed pretty peppy.

I ran that one too for a while and found I lost about 1 mpg although the idle was smooth. So far the original black one has been the best for me.
