well guys I solved the flashing light problem. I swapped in one of the other alts I got. I fired her up and shes putting out 13.95 volts at idle and she goes to 14.2 at 1500rpm. my headlights don't dim out anymore either.
the only dislike I have now is, since I only have one belt, its squealing at start up. so now im in the market for either a double belt kit or maybe a slightly larger pulley for the alt...
and im going to buy a volt guage too...
Even a single belt will not squeak unless it is glazed, incorrectly sized, or improperly tensioned. And a larger pulley typically has no effect on the issue either.
Just wondering, I have 1977 f150 with swapped 460 in. I would like to upgrade alternator, can I use the alternator and wiring out of a 2001 f150, which I have one setting in back yard totaled out.
