Super Duty 460 (gas) Engine Runs on like 3 cylinders after running hundreds of miles

I have a Motor home built on a ford super duty chasis.Engine funs great until I have traveled say 100 mi. to sometimes 600 miles, and the engine will cut out-- backfire and run as if its running on 3 cylinders, often has loss of power and dies. After the engine cools it will run fine until this happens again for no apparent reason..... Anyone familiar with this ????
PLEASE ADVISE

couple things you might want to check out , DO a compression test is the first thing , u can buy a compression test kit pretty cheap, also check and make sure its not over heating , Check all your connections for Splits, cracks, corrosion ,
Whens the last time you changed or checked your Fuel pump / fuel filter..
also When your engine heats up Parts seems to expand might want to check for vacuum leaks, Blow By , and possibly your spark plugs, Wires to and from , and the distributor, make sure non of the points are messed up.
just small advice to pin point probably a simple Problem .
jayson
oh and i heard one time of a guy that had a crack in his radiator , and or radiator over flow tank . when the car heated up he would lose presser in the radiator , but not leak fluids .
check that as well ..

Most heat related intermittent ignition are caused by the Ignition Control Module (ICM) or the PIP sensor in the distributor. The ICM can be removed and tested. The PIP is a little more difficult to test. I found this writeup, but have never used it myself: Ford Ranger/Bronco II TFI Ignition Diagnostics

It is advised to check for error codes before replacing any parts.
