I have a 2000 F250 Super Duty with a V10. The engine now uses oil (quart 3000 miles) can anyone recommed a good engine or machine shop? Has anyone had any luck swapping out the 2000s for 3V V10? If so how hard are the 3V V10's to come by and what problems do you run into putting them in a 2000 F250 Super Duty?
Thanks
Well the 3V isn't out yet so I doubt anyone has expierence with swapping one. I don't know anyone that has rebuilt a V10 yet. Do a search for rebuilding your V10 it has been talked about but don't know anyone who has done it. Is your truck running well other than burning a little oil. GM 8.1L's burn that new, so no big deal.

1 quart in 3K is about average, don't rebuild it for that. The money you'd spent putting in a 2005 V-10 will put your 2000 PI motor at over 400 hp easily plus pay for a tranny reprogram and wheels and tires. Ken
Are you using synthetic oil? I'v heard running a full synthetic help the V10 with it's usage problem. My next oil change I plan on making the switch.
Most of us running full synthetic actually lose more oil than those running dino, or a dino/syn mix. Something to do with evaporation or something, with Mobil 1 being the worst with evaporation for some reason. There's a fairly long thread here that someone explained the whole synthetic-evaporation thing. It was interesting. Ken
