Summitt or another dealer won't care about you after you buy the parts from them. I will have Scott port my heads when I need to take them off for a valve job or whatever, but I did not have any issues with them, so decided to leave them be for now. The mass air conversion will be very expensive and then you have to know how to tune it. I would just keep the speed density efi, use a cam that won't trip it out, port your heads and intake and be happy that you have a great running truck without spending too much money.

Honestly, I would forget posting for suggestions because everyone is going to give you their opinion and not many of them have to deal with CA's smog check laws. The better choice would be to call Scott at RHP, tell him your situation and let him help. He is the head porting master on 460's and a really great guy. Not much more for a custom cam compared to one from Summitt, etc. And if you have questions, he is there for you every step of the way.

My '97 has mass air stock, but I still wanted to be conservative for smog check reasons (I just passed smog). Scott at Reincarnation Automotive Re-In-"Car"-nation High Performance and Automotive Repair/index had the cam custom ground for me (about $220 for cam/lifters) and ported intake manifold ($220). He is the one who dialed in my combo for me and I would have struggled without him.

The stock Voodoo 61600 is ground on a 112 lsa (lobe separation angle). There are other cams (Comp, etc.) that make cams that are compatible with your speed density efi and are ok, but the Voodoo has much more lift and works great for my towing application. Your sd efi will go wacky if you don't have the correct lsa. And at the stock compression ratio, you can't go to a cam with much more duration, or it will cause pinging. (I use 87 ocatane daily, but 92 when towing and no pinging.)
