Ford Developing Remote Control Parking

You know when you get to that perfect parking spot and you come back to find that the two people that parked next to you were too close. That struggle with trying to get in your car or truck without scratching or denting either car and then you have to find a way to climb in through a window, trunk, or wait for one of those owners to drive away. Well worry no more as Ford is developing a remote control parking feature for their vehicles.

What makes this really interesting is that, other than Ford, only two luxury car makes are looking into the technology. Mercedes Benz with its W213-chassis E-Class and BMW with its G11-chassis 7-series and probably a few others but no other mark below a price line of $90-thousand is looking.

Ford is proving that it is the technological leader in vehicle features, but we’ll have to wonder how well it will work. Sync hasn’t exactly been positive, but it’s also not built in-house whereas the remote control drive is. We got a hint of it with the Edge concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show back in 2013 and now looks like they are going full steam with the idea.
