Seeking tailgate hinge bushings 1980 F250

I am having trouble finding tailgate hinge bushings for a 1980 F150 camper Special. LMC only carries 83-86. Willing to buy used or new. Restoration finished and can’t mount tailgate properly. 971-301-2211…..Chris

Interesting. I didn't know the bushing were different 1980 to 82. I replaced mine on my 86 with LMC bushings. I wonder what the difference is? I would call LMC as that 83-86 might be a typo?

LMC were the ones that told me the information. Had already been told the same thing by two other vendors. Apparently 83-86 have a different size or setup.

Got pictures of what you need?

If not available commercially, are these bushings something you could fabricate? Maybe plastic pipe turned down on a lathe or 3D printed?

If that's not feasible, could you convert to the later style? Just a hunch, but I bet when Ford introduced the newer design, they probably kept the same bolt pattern on the bed and tailgate. Pics would help.

unfortunately, no pictures are available. We can’t find one online and we don’t have to park. This is a complete restoration. I’ve talked to five or six people about fabricating one they’ve all said no. Body shop guy is saying we need the 80 through 82 bushings and can’t use the other years the bolt patterns don’t match up.

What do you have now?

You mentioned looking for a bushing. That makes me think of a 3 piece hinge assembly on each side. The bushing would be a wear piece (nylon or similar?) between inner and outer metal pieces. If so, are you only missing the wear piece in the middle? Can you post a pic of what you do have? Or are you missing all of the pieces, not just the wear "bushing"?
