1992 Ford F-150 Flareside in Wild Magenta Is Poppin’

Considering the unorthodox color choice for an F-150, does it make your eyes burn, or does it make your mouth water?

We at Ford Truck Enthusiasts remember the ’90s fondly. It was an era when no color was too bright, and no modification too bold. Ford certainly took this to heart, with a wide array of bright hues available across their model lineup.

From sparkly pearlescents to bright yellows, glittery metallic teals, and even an SVT Mustang Cobra available in color-shifting Mystic paint, nothing was too wild or wacky.

In those days, buyers ate up the funky colors, and while they were never as popular as basic white, black, red, or the ever-popular dark green, seeing them pop up in the wild all these years later is a treat. It’s a refreshing change from the endless sea of silver and dark grey that makes up the modern automotive color palette.

This 1992 Ford F-150 seen on the California Craigslist is a true ’90s throwback, with a flareside bed, accessory side steps, and the ever-popular ten-hole mag wheels. Ford was so proud of the flareside in those days that they even replaced the familiar F-150 badge with a special “Flare Side” fender badge on either side.

The truck looks great for its age, due in large part to spending its life in Southern California, where we’ve been told it never rains (but it pours, man it pours). Having just 84,000 miles on the clock helps, too.

According to the ad, the truck has fresh paint and upholstery. That wild, eye-searing magenta shade looks original, judging by the door jambs, and that familiar grey cloth fabric should make anyone who spent time in a Ford truck of this era feel right at home.

While not everyone’s cup of Crystal Pepsi, we’d be proud to park this flareside in our garage. In fact, it makes us want to blow the dust off our Super Nintendos and our Vanilla Ice tapes. Word to your mother.
