Video: What to Expect From the 2018 Ford F-150 Engines
Get all the news, rumors, and juicy details about the upcoming 2018 engine F-150 lineup.
Everyone is clamoring for rumors about the upcoming 2018 Ford F-150, especially the turbocharged 3.0L Power Stroke diesel engine. While we know what these trucks will look like, we still don’t know how they will run. Are the new engines a vast improvement, or are they bound to disappoint?
That’s the topic that American Trucks tackles in a recent video. They review each engine and discuss changes and power differences compared to their successors. Starting first with the base model engine, the 3.3-liter V6, then the 2.7-liter EcoBoost, and the 3.5-liter, which is the most popular engine of the lineup. The Raptor’s 3.5L EcoBoost remains untouched, and they also cover all the details on the revised 5.0L V8.
The biggest unknown right now is how the turbocharged 3.0-liter Power Stroke engine will turn out? While we haven’t heard any hard facts about it, we know how a similar, Ford-sourced engine in a Land Rover SUV performs.
Other additions to the 2018 F-150 is the mass adoption of the new 10-speed transmission. While the base model sticks with the standard 6-speed, all other models will adopt the 10-speed that’s been getting good reviews. One controversial default addition to the trucks is the auto-start/stop function.
