1978 Ranger Lariat: Grandpa-owned Barn Find Is on the Road Again
Well-optioned, well-preserved F-150 was lovingly cared for most of its life. And now, it’s seeing the light of day again after 17 years in storage!
If you’re reading this, chances are you come from a long line of Ford truck owners. Your love of pickups most likely came from your father or grandfather. Or maybe you are the father or grandfather who instilled this passion in your own kin. Regardless of where you stand in your own particular lineage, we all know at least one person who bought a truck like this 1978 Ford F-150 new and drove it till the wheels fell off.
OK, maybe the wheels haven’t exactly fallen off this incredible barn find, which we spotted over on eBay. In fact, this is a pretty straight and clean example, thanks to the fact that it’s sat in a garage for the last 17 years. And, in fact, it was owned by somebody’s grandpa, who drove it until the day he passed away. Even though it wasn’t started or run during that long time period, the seller reports that it didn’t take much to get it up and running for a brief period.
Aside from the obvious appeal of this dusty barn find, there’s a lot more to love. For starters, this Ford F-150 is a Ranger Lariat, so the interior is extra plush. And in remarkable condition, we might add. The seat doesn’t appear to have any rips in it, and the headliner isn’t even sagging. Then there’s that cool camper shell, which protects what appears to be linoleum flooring straight from the ’70s.
