Finely detailed like the best of them, this 1974 Ford Bronco half cab aims to stand out with lots of muscle.

Top-notch, world-class first-generation Ford Bronco builds are a dime a dozen these days, with numerous companies specializing in transforming those old SUVs into highly detailed restomods that cost big bucks. Most of those builds utilize modern powertrains as well, typically something like Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 or even electric power. However, the folks at JB Custom Fabrication wanted to take a different approach with their 1974 Ford Bronco half-cab build, so instead, they gave it a serious infusion of power to go along with the requisite beautiful detailing, as we can see in this video from Power + Performance.

JB started this particular build by modifying the frame and giving it brand new body panels and fenders, all of which were smoothed to perfection and covered in a color dubbed Go Mango, along with lots of black trim for a more modern look. From there, the company added a host of suspension upgrades including a double triangulated four-link for the rear, parallel four links and a Panhard bar up front, ORI 12- and 14-inch struts, Fox four-inch nitrogen bump stops, and hydraulic assisted steering.

The stunning horse rolls on a set of black double-beadlock Hutchinson wheels, which are wrapped with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires. As one might imagine, they’re attached to a set of beefed-up diffs, in this case, a pair of RuffStuff 9-inch units with 4.86 gears and Dutchman axles. All of that hardware is great for off-roading, of course, but it’s also needed to help put some serious power to the ground, thanks to what lurks under the hood.

That, it turns out, is a pretty wicked 427 cubic-inch powerplant that utilizes a Dark iron block, a forged crank, forged rods, Ross pistons, Dart Pro1 aluminum heads, a custom camshaft, and a FiTech Go EFI-8 1200hp Power Adder Plus paired with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold. Just in case that isn’t enough, JB also gave this bucking 1974 Ford Bronco half cab a pair of Precision T-3 turbochargers for some boost, and mated the built engine to an also-fortified Ford 4R100 transmission.

The result is one of the coolest first-gen Broncos we’ve come across, but it also blends in with the sea of restomods currently roaming the earth, at least in terms of looks. Given the high bar that’s been set in that regard, this isn’t a bad thing by any means, however.
