Forscan question for 2017 re: battery type change.
Well bought a cheap obdll/USB reader and downloaded forscan and registered (complete story in that from not knowing one needed to register it, no warning saying you need to register it for forscan to work, and a good amount of time trying to get anything to work...without registering it)
When I finally managed to get the truck linked, software linked I found a limited choice of battery types and no place for custom ah or cca's
Anyways I just picked a close agm type and tried to update. It failed.
btw my new battery lists 70ah, 760CCA.
Now somewhere I read some model will not allow battery type changes?
The cheap OBD adapter is most likely the problem. Battery type and size are used by the battery monitoring system. It is not critical. Many owners have disabled the BMS to keep the battery fully charged (BMS limits the charge to 80% capacity).

I'm trying to do my best w/ the battery thing since it sits a bit in the winter and I often get the "Things were shut off" nag screen.
so.. I need to confirm it is possible to do this with my truck.
Do I need to do the asbllt spreadshee thingy?
I changed my battery this spring, used the recommended dongle, and it easily offered and showed me options to change the configuration. I upgraded from h6 to h7 battery. As far as sitting, these trucks are constantly drawing a slight amount of juice, during slow times I would put a quality battery maintainer on it. They even sell solar ones if it sits outside.
