Second-Gen Ford Maverick, Ranger EV Details Revealed via Product Road Map
A second-gen Ford Maverick is coming in a few years, but it won’t be alone amid a busy schedule for The Blue Oval.
There’s no denying the fact that the thrifty, affordable Ford Maverick has been a smash hit for The Blue Oval, which is still working to fill all of the many orders it took for the compact pickup well over a year ago. The Maverick figures to be in high demand for the foreseeable future as its economical, utilitarian nature proves appealing for even non-traditional truck buyers, which means that it’s safe to look ahead to the second-gen Ford Maverick. Now, we know precisely when that new model is expected to debut, along with some other enticing FoMoCo products, courtesy of a new product road map released by AutoForecast Solutions.
First up, we have the second-gen Ford Maverick, which is currently slated to enter production at the automaker’s Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico on April 1, 2027. This would give the current iteration of the compact pickup a six-year lifespan – pretty common among Ford models, for the most part – and its replacement would also last six years, bowing out in 2033. The road map also notes that the second-gen Maverick will continue to ride on the C2 platform, as is the case now.
Next up, we have the long-rumored Ford Ranger EV, which is expected to enter production on August 1, 2029 at the currently under construction BlueOval City complex, and remain in production into 2037. It will apparently be joined by the second-generation F-150 Lightning, which will also apparently be built at both the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan, as well as BlueOval City, starting in August of 2025.
With the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus going away in 2024, both will be replaced at the Oakville Assembly Plant in Canada with the new all-electric Explorer and Aviator models, which will enter production in late 2024. Finally, the road map also lists the next-gen Ford F-150 as entering production in late 2026, running through the fall of 2033 – which comes a couple of years after the best-selling pickup’s refresh – while an all-electric version of the Ford Bronco is expected in 2029.
It’s important to note that this is merely information coming from an automotive forecast company – not FoMoCo itself – but AutoForecast Solutions has a history of being rather accurate in its predictions, so at the very least, these should provide us with a rough timeline for future product launches.
